As mentioned in the backbone,
Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States from 1929
to 1933, was also a scientist and translated Agricola's
"De Re Metallica" from Latin to English in 1912. He did that together with his wife, Lou Henry Hoover. Agricola began his seminal book around 1533; it was published 1555 - after his death. |
